Today was meet your teacher day at the boys school. Micah is going into 2nd grade and Jacob is starting kindergarten.
Micah's teacher is Mrs. Esmera-Carter. This year they put all the GT kids (gifted and talented) in one class, so Micah really liked that. He also has a few friends in his class from last year and a few boys from scouts so he is happy. Mrs. Gutierrez, his GT teacher (yes her name is Jennifer Gutierrez, crazy, huh?) said that this year she will be giving them independant work that they need to do on their own outside of GT class. Micah has his first day of school tomorrow.
Jacob's teacher is Mrs. Kouchi. It was so wierd for me to bring him to his class and put his stuff away at his desk, I felt a little emotional, but no tears. Jacob was very excited and felt so big. Starting tomorrow they begin kindergarten assessment so Jacob does not have to go to school until Monday when it is his turn. When testing is done they split the class into group A and group B. So first group A goes to school and then group B. Jacob is in group B so his first day of kindergarten will be August 11.
Both teachers seem great so it seems like we will have a great year.

He He He
Our blog was being funny so I ran a test post and then I forgot to edit it!
We arrived back in Hawaii Saturday afternoon after a 5 hour flight from LAX. We have been busy unpacking and getting things ready for school.
Monday we had our 6 month dental check up. Micah and I are good but poor Jake is not. They were finally able to get xrays done on his teeth. And he has 3 cavities! Two of them need to be filled but one is really tiny. They are in between his teeth so they said we need to do more flossing. They said they could have been there for years but we didn't know until xrays. Bummer.

Natalie turns One!
Wednesday we drove to Los Angeles to help Natalie celebrate her 1st birthday. The cousins had fun playing together in the house and outside. We enjoyed a yummy dinner outside on the patio and then a delicious (and cute) cake that Laura made. We opened presents and then gave all the kids a bath. We love you Natalie!

Chickfila Kid's Night
Los Monitos
One of our favorite Mexican places to eat at is called Los Monitos. It started as a little hole in the wall place when my Dad was a kid. When he met my mom, he took her there and as we grew up we all ate there too. The are famous for their tacos and enchiladas. They have since expanded and have a few more locations but the taste is still the same. My parents took us out for lunch before we took Sam to the airport last week. It was so ONO!

Natalie and Jenn/Dave and Natalie/Jenn and Laura
This morning we went to my parent's church, Crosspoint. It was nice and I was surprised to find out that there was going to be a guest pastor and it was Rick Roeda. When I was in high school I use to babysit Rick and his sister and brother a lot.
After church Dave and his family came over to hang out. We had pizza and played and I enjoyed getting to know Elijah and Natalie more. It was a fun afternoon!

Museum and cousins
Today my parents took us to LA to visit the California Museum of Science and Industry. The boys were able to lift a truck all by themselves and experience lots of cool interactive exhibits.
But the highlights were definitly the 3D Imax "Monsters of the Deep" and an exhibit called "Body Worlds" in which people have donated their bodies to science and then they are placticized and opened up to see everything. It may sound gross but it was really cool. The boys seemed bored with it but the did enjoy figuring out if the person was a male or female by their genitals.
After the museum we went to visit my brother Dave and his family: Laura, Elijah and Natalie. We have not seen Natalie since she was a few days old. The cousins had lots of fun playing together and then we had a delicious dinner out on the patio as the hot weather finally cooled down.
The boys fell asleep on the way home and were completely exhausted from our fun filled day!
