Still Practicing

Have you seen the new Karate Kid? Well we are huge fans of it. Every time I watch it I look at Jayden's hair and think "I wish I could do that". So I decided to start practicing. Now mind you that I cannot just practice whenever I feel like because the head I am working on has to be in the right mood. Some days she does not want me to touch her hair. And when you are trying to learn a new skill it takes practice and some bribing. I told her "Do you want Mommy to do your hair like the Karate Kid?" This was followed by giggles and "Yes Mommy!"

I notice in the movie that Jayden has his hair parted around his ears and the bottom is braided separately from the top. So that is what I attempted. Well as you can see the bottom of Naomi's hair looks nothing like Jaydens but I do think that I am getting better on my corn rows. I know that they are not fabulous but I think they show improvement.
So what do you think? I can take it...

Maybe it does not look like Jayden's but Naomi is not him. It looks good to me I think you are doing great with her hair. Especially is just a couple of years with no previous experience.

I agree with Darrick, it looks great! Glad the model was a willing participant and was still smiling in the end!:)

I think it looks amazing! We have a friend that MUST put "karate kids" in her daughters hair...she told me that it took her years of practice. I think yours look awesome:) you should be proud.

I couldn't do it. I am just trying to keep Laila's healthy. It doesn't really seem to grow no matter what I do. It is fine for now while she is still little, but at some point, this chick of mine is going to want some options. I have pretty much decided that I will probably have to pay someone to do braids. Maybe I will have more time when she is older and the bigger kids are growing up and moving out!! For now, it is still just in an afro.
