I apoligize to those of you who check our blog every day to see what we are up to. Here is the scoop from the past few days.
Yesterday I watched our friends Charlie and Alex while their mom was out. Everything went great until Lauren called me on her way home saying the traffic was terrible and it looked like a fire by our houses. I took all 4 boys outside and we could see the thick black smoke really good. It was not on the base housing but pretty close. They ended up closing the road (the only road) to the housing because the fire hose had to go across it. Lauren did not make it home before they closed the road. Finally a few hours later she made it home safely and they put the fire out. I heard it was at a junk yard.
Darrick and I had a date night planned last night and we just made it to that. It took us about 20 minutes to get out of the housing because they diverted us through a park and some back roads and the bike path. We went to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". The original has always been a favorite of mine and I wanted to see the remake. I really enjoyed it, it was different from the first movie but good. I loved the boy who played Charlie.
Today was busy too. The boys had swimming lessons. Micah surprised his teacher and I by trying to swim just holding the noodle in front of him without anything around his waist. He is doing so good.
This afternoon the Hopper Ohana Board members met with the Captain, XO and CMC of the ship to discuss our plans.
Hope everyone is well, drop us a note sometime!

I'm glad to hear that Micah is doing so good with his swim lessons. We were thinking about taking Kaitlyn to swim lessons through the city, but the classes are every day (M-F) for two weeks! I thought they'd be more like a couple days a week for a week or two. With us only having one car. Micah says he can teach her how to swim... We'll see. :o)
Why is September 17th taking SO LONG to get here?!?!?!
I'm hoping to see that movie with Cathy. I loved the books, and Depp is an interesting actor, so I expect good things.
My dad said he learned to swim in the Mississippi as a young boy; apparently my grandpa said, "swim" and tossed him in.
I think your approach is better. :-)
