Why I love yard sales

Darrick has duty today so it is just me and the boys. After we ran two errands this morning and we were driving back onto base and I saw a sign for a yard sale. The sign itself was not unusual, since people are always moving it seems like there is a yard sale almost every weekend. We have never gone to one here on base but as I saw the sign I just had an overwhelming desire to go-so we did.

It was a mulit-family yard sale which is always good. I spent a grand total of $2.50 and got 2 Spiderman t-shirts for Micah, 3 power ranger action figures, 1 buzz lightyear, 2 pretend safety goggles, a train and track and a set of tinker toys! I was so impressed.

But the best part is that these "New" toys kept the boys busy all day long...it was great! It is funny because the boys have never seen a Power ranger show and really have no idea what they are. They just think they are super hero men. I am not a huge fan of power rangers because of all the karate fighting they do.

So I was able to get a lot of housework done and then in the afternoon we played in the backyard in our little pool.

What is the coolest thing you ever found at a yard sale or the best deal?

My favorite thing to get at yard sales is books. They're usually ridiculously cheap and most of the time in decent condition. Most of my garage-saling is done electronically now, though. In the form of eBay! I've been wanting an original Nintendo system (you know, the one with Super Mario Bros. & Duck Hunt) and I just won an auction for one - it was only $18.50!!! Wahooo!!!
Great job on the bargain-hunting, Jenn! You make me proud!! ;o)

True to my geekhood... I once found a $60 mini-amp for $2. Now, I do most of my bargain shopping online, though.
