Major Wipe Out

The boys and I have been riding our bikes back and forth to school. Jacob learned to ride without his training wheels about a month and a half ago. Jacob and I were on our way to pick Micah up from school. We were almost there and were going across the crosswalk. Jacob was in front of me.

All of the sudden he started wobbling and then his bike hit the curb and it stopped but he didn't. He fell over the handle bars, face first. He scrapped up his chin pretty bad and his elbows. Thankfully he had his helmet and long pants on. The whole front of his white shirt was covered in red dirt.

He cried at first cause I think it scared him pretty bad. But he got back on his bike and kept riding.

The Weekend

Saturday: since Darrick had to work I decided to mow the lawn in the morning. Well I have actually mowed the lawn every week since we moved here because Darrick is never here to do it. After that the boys and I packed a picnic lunch. The boys made their own PBJ sandwiches. Somehow they got jelly on themselves, dripping down the cabinet, the stool and the floor but they were so proud of themselves. *Most of the jelly mess was on Jacob's side* Then we took our lunch and walked to the beach. We had a wonderful time and hung out for about 4 hours.

When we were walking home, Darrick drove up. We all had showers and rested and then went to Saturday night church.

Sunday: we all went to church again because I had to teach Sunday School. The boys rested after church while Darrick and I paid bills. Then we took a nice drive up the coast to see where the school is that I am taking my sub course at. It is in Waianae. It took us about 45 minutes to get there. I have the class starting this Friday, Saturday, Sunday and next Friday and Saturday for a total of 30 hours.

This morning Darrick left to go out to sea again.

He was told that we should find out about our orders December 7. Patience...

Hawaiian Waters

On Halloween night we went to Harvest fest at our church. They had 3 raffles and our friends Jeremy, Jennifer and Brayden Homesley won 4 tickets to Hawaiian Waters. Jeremy left for deployment today, Jennifer is pregnant and the tickets had to be used before the end of the year, so they gave them to us.

Darrick and Micah both had off today so we thought it would be fun to go! And boy was it-we had a blast. We started off in Keiki cove where they had little kids waterslides and the boys had a blast. Then we headed to waterworld where they had two slides you could ride parent and child so we did that. Darrick went down a few fast ones but what was so nice is that there was hardly anyone there today so he just went up there and then came down.

We all floated around Kapolei Kooler (like a lazy river) and then Darrick and I rode the Shaka-see picture above. I thought I would not scream but when they pushed us over the edge it was straight down and then you go up one side and then down and up the other side until you stop. We played around all afternoon and just had such a great day. Even though we have lived here almost 4 years we have never been to Hawaiian Waters. It is $39.99 for adults so the free tickets were awesome! We packed our own lunch and there was no parking fee so it was a free day all around!

Friday

Yesterday afternoon Darrick got off of work in the afternoon which was so nice because he has been working late everyday.

We took a drive up to North Shore and had some shave ice and ate at Cholo's. It was so yummy.

But the big news is that we thought that we were stationed here until December 2008. Darrick was told yesterday that the date is wrong. We are here until August 2008. But what that means is that we are eligible to pick our new orders this month! Whoa-we weren't ready for that. Right now there is San Diego, Japan and Maryland.

We talked about it last night and we decided that we are not going to focus on location but the job. Darrick has been out to sea for a long time and he really wants to have a job that is real shore duty for 3 years. So that is what we are praying for. Right now none of the locations have a job like that so we are going to wait. We have some time to do that. We are just going to wait on the Lord. We will keep you posted.

Happy Halloween!

We had a full day of celebrating. Jennifer and Brayden came over to watch Jacob so I could spend the day helping in Micah's classroom. They did all kinds of fun activities but the highlight was the all school mask parade. Students made masks at home and then marched around the school for all the parents to see. All students that made a mask got another pin for their lanyard that said BOO! I helped Micah make his mask-R2-D2 of course!

We were so happy that Darrick got off work at a decent time so he could go with us to Harvestfest at church. It was really fun. It was a rainy Halloween night in Hawaii so we were glad it was inside. They had all kinds of fun games and then when you played a game you got candy and boy did we get a lot. We had a yummy dinner of Waffle Dogs and Chili and Rice. Both the boys were tired at the end of the night and said it was the best Halloween ever!BraydenWaffle Dog, Chili and Rice and Boys with Pastor Randy and KaiJenn and Jocelyn Boys with Auntie Hiromi

GLO Star

Today Micah received a special award at school. He was a first grade GLO star (General Learner Outcome). There are certain things they need to achieve. They had a special assembly where Micah got a certificate, a special pin for their school lanyard and a magnet for our car. Way to go Micah, we are so proud of you!

Space Derby

Tuesday night the Cub Scouts held their annual Space Derby. Since Micah is a Tiger and in his first year of scouting it was all new to us. We received our kit and I am so glad that Darrick was here to help Micah build it. The leaders told the parents to help as little as we can so it was pretty cute because the Tigers were mostly flying rectangles because it was too much sanding to get it in a rocket shape.

It is propelled by twisting rubberbands connected to a propeller. You could do anywhere from 1-100 spins. Many of the boys who did 100 lost because their rocket either fell off or flipped and got caught in the line. And if you twisted it the wrong way it went backwards.

Micah decided that he would do 25 spins and named his rocket "Blue Bullet". He won his first race but lost the second so he was eliminated.

But we were surprised at the end when Micah was awarded the ribbon for best paint job! He was so proud. Darrick had duty so he missed it all but it was quite an adventure!

I love these shirts!

When our friends Jennifer and Brayden returned from visiting Texas, their home state, they brought us back there awesome shirts! Hays, is the name of a store in their area. We were so surprised, thanks again Jennifer!

I also included some new pictures of Luke Skywalker. He is getting bigger and is now 3 months old. We taught him this weekend how to sit. He gets a little doggy treat. He is so funny because he will come up to you, sit and look at you like "where is my treat?" And last night Darrick was eating some ice cream and Luke came up to him and sat and waited for some, but of course Darrick did not share. But when Darrick left the room, Luke had climbed from the couch which was reclined to the coffee table and started chowing down on the ice cream. Darrick caught him. I think they both were disappointed that that was the end of their treat.

Getting our outside in order

Darrick and I spent most of the day getting our outdoors in order.

We started off with the lawn, I mowed, while Darrick edged. Then we had to clean out the carport. We had been putting all our boxes in there so we had to break them down, sweep it all out and then put the bikes back in.

Next we moved to our outdoor storage and our shed. We took everything out and put all Darrick's "stuff" in the outdoor storage, it is now like his own mini garage. Then we put other stuff like luggage and holiday decorations in the shed.
This is the shed Darrick built last weekend

Darrick put the boys outdoor play structure together and I swept our driveway and gutter. We were so dirty and exhausted when we were done. Darrick put the boys structure by a plumeria tree, which they love! He put a rope with knots to climb and a bucket attached to a rope they can put things in and pull them up. I also put some pictures of the view from our lanai today-it was beautiful!

We're Back Online!

We finally are back online! Yahoo! The cable guy came and installed it this week but it was not working for a few days but Darrick came home this weekend from being out to sea all week and he fixed it. Well actually he discovered it was just unplugged...opps, I guess I should have checked that first. So much has happened I will list some of the highlights:
*We passed our final inspection on our old house and had to pay 0 fines!!!

*We are almost totally unpacked.

*Darrick has been going out to sea during the week and coming home on the weekends.

*The boys and I have been at the beach a few times every week.

*Darrick spent 3 days last weekend putting together a metal shed for our extra stuff.
*Last Saturday Darrick and I went to the Khaki Ball on a Sunset Dinner Cruise in Waikiki.

*Last Sunday we attended a dinner at our church for married couples and the One Love ministry-it was super fun.

*Luke, our puppy, is really growing and developed a terrible habit of biting us hard. We found a site on the internet that addressed this and told us how important the skill of not biting is and usually they learn it from their mother. You yelp the first two times he does it and if he does it a third you flip him on his back, growl and say "no bite" aqnd hold him there until he relaxes which means he submits to you. After a few times Luke got it and was a totally different puppy today! It was amazing.

*The Blue Angels are here, in Hawaii, and have not been here since 1994. We went today to see the airshow. It was free but while we were standing in line someone gave us 5 wristbands, which cost money, to sit in the grandstands. Micah had his friend JJ with him. It was so incredible!

We will continue to post regularly again now!
