Back to church searching

It is a long story and sort of a hurtful one too but sometime, if you are interested, I can tell you the details over some hot chocolate. But after last Sunday we are once again looking for a church.

I talked to my Grandpa Vanderbilt, he is 99 years old, on the phone this week. He told me that it would make him and my Grandma very happy if we went to the Christian Reformed Church. I talked to Darrick and we thought "why not try it?", so we looked on the Internet and found out they actually have a CRC church in Marysville. It is called Cascade Christian Reformed Church and it was old school. Psalter Hymnals and Organ and Piano only but it was actually really nice. We liked the Pastor and his sermon, the kids enjoyed the children's sermon, Jacob was picked to light one of the Advent Candles and the kids loved the cookies after church.

There is also a CRC in Everett called First Christian Reformed Church so we attended their 6:00 pm service tonight. Well, we thought we were going too. When we got there the service was just ending. It seems they changed their service time tonight because they were going caroling after the service. They people were so friendly. One lady even came up to us and asked us if we were the ones from California?

It seems my Grandparents told a friend of theirs from church that we were moving to WA. That friend told her sister who lives in WA about us and she has been on the lookout for us. How small the world can be in CRC circles. Darrick got a kick out of how everyone knew about Dordt and some even went there themselves!

So since we were out of the house with now no place to go we decided to go Christmas caroling with these people we just met! Of course, it started to rain and yet we still sang our hearts out to the neighborhood. When the singing was done we headed back to the church for pizza, cookies, hot chocolate and hot cider.

We really liked this church and have not even been to a service yet! We are going to go to their Christmas Eve service and then try their Sunday service. So we will see...
